Trips

Donegal

The Clubs annual trip to Bundoran, Co. Donegal, ius the biggest trip on the club calender. Over the last few years we have had 100 people heading along for 3days of craic. Generally held early November, after beginner sessions have just finished, its a great chance for older and newer club members to mix, get drunk, score and paddle. The Bunduff River is run early saturday morning, with a lot of sore heads in attendance. A nice introduction to river running, with a fun waterfall at the end. Saturday night sees the themed dress party, cartoon heroes, bad taste, golf pros and tennis ho's, all past themes, and most important the Wicked Liquid Jungle Juice Challenge. Sunday means surf, on the strand behind the houses. Donegal 04 video

Kerry

In the Past the club had its annual trip away in Kerry. That is until there was some unpleasantness .... However in the last few years, we have tentatively returned to celebrate New Years with all the other Uni Clubs, more partying than paddling is done, and thats as it should be.

Lahinch

Club surf trip. One night camping and one night in a youth hostel.

Achievements

The Clubs is one of the largest clubs in the country, and as such we are very successfully in many different areas.

The Clubs Kayak Polo team, having only formed and started playing properly in the last few years, had a successful 1st entry into the national leagues run during the year, culminating in winning the Div3 Irish Open held in Kilcock each September in 2006. Since then polo has taken off with a team in Divisions 1 and 2 for national competitions.

The Club also has a strong freestyle presence with regular members being selected for national squads. Most recently past members Brian "Bowsie" Cahill, Jackie Ferguson and Siobhan McGriskin represented Ireland in the 2008 European Champs.

Varsities

Generally one of the strongest presences at the weekend. Despite partying the hardest, we also tend to win it more often than not. 15times out of the last 22years
