Perception began in modest surroundings in South Carolina in 1974 with a kayak constructed from glass-fibre. In 1976 Perception Inc. was formed and the production method moved to rotational moulding, with a kayak called the Quest. Very quickly the Mirage followed and Perception's journey to world renown gathered pace. Today, Perception kayaks and canoes are manufactured in three plants situated the USA, Great Britain and New Zealand, by over 200 employees and the range has grown to be the most diverse and complete on the market.
