Potomac River
From Wikipaddle
The Potomac flows from Western Maryland and West Virginia in two branches and finally converging below Cumberland, MD. The North Branch of the Potomac forms the border between West Virginia and Maryland. At Harpers Ferry, about 50 mi. NW of Washington, DC the Shenandoah joins the Potomac. Soon thereafter it passes over its last rapids (including Great Falls) in a beautiful section of scenic river right to the border of Washington, DC.
Every year the local paddlers hold a Potomac Festival which includes the Great Fall Race. Tommcewan 19:41, 12 July 2008 (MST)
